Questions people ask

What is MM2H?

Malaysia My Second Home is a long-term visa programme for foreigners who want to live in Malaysia. Applicants place a fixed deposit, meet the age and other criteria, and in most tiers must buy a home in Malaysia.

How much property do I need to buy for MM2H?

Federal MM2H: at least RM600,000 (Silver), RM1,000,000 (Gold) or RM2,000,000 (Platinum). Sabah has similar tiers within Sabah; Sarawak makes buying optional, from RM500,000 to RM600,000. The state’s own minimum price for foreign buyers also applies.

Can I sell my MM2H property?

Under the federal tiers, not for 10 years, except to upgrade to a more expensive home. Sarawak allows a sale after 5 years.

Can I apply for MM2H myself?

Federal MM2H applications go only through a MOTAC-licensed MM2H agent. Sabah and Sarawak run their own application centres.

Can MM2H holders work in Malaysia?

Only Platinum holders may work or run a business. Other tiers need a separate pass; Sarawak allows limited part-time professional work with approval.

Checked against official MM2H, Sabah and Sarawak sources on 21 October 2026. Rules and fees change; confirm with a licensed MM2H agent or the programme office before you apply. EstateBuds does not give immigration advice.
